How To Win On X (Twitter)
12 hours in. Trying to write the best X (Twitter) playbook. The blue light glasses aren’t helping. Zara is crying. I tried writing on the hammock. At the dinner table. In my office. On the couch. And the only place I locked in? On the floor next to my three dogs. Hour 13. And it starts to come together. Hour 14. And it’s time to ship. Hour 15. I contemplate every word in this guide.
That’s the life of someone trying to write the best newsletter in the game.
Enjoy.

🔍 How To Win On X (Twitter)
Open-sourced code. An open door to the algorithm changes. 13,000 lines of new code. X content types to help you win.
Replies Over Retweets
1 reply is worth 13.5 retweets and 27 likes.
So, how do you optimize for replies to drive reach?
We have 15 content types.
1. Comment Contest
Create a contest around your content. And host it in the comments.
2. Share An Opinion
“Opinions are like belly buttons. Everyone has one.” - Shaq
And they’ll share it in the comments.
3. Open The Floor
You have an expertise within a topic. Open the floor to questions. And let the replies flood in.
4. Red Pill Content
There are two sides to a coin. And when you make a statement, there are people who agree and disagree.
When you share red pill content, you open the floor to both sides.
5. Piggy Back Off Someone’s Reach
Any post that goes viral is an open door to reaching new accounts.
Because the comment section is where you can share your two cents and turn it into a dollar.
6. Open The Conversation
Two ways to do this:
Make a statement. Then end it with an open-ended question.
Just ask the question
7. Share Your Personal Life
Humanize. Authentic. Founder-Led. All the marketing lingo.
Ditch it for four words of advice: Share your personal life.
People connect and resonate with what they have context on.
Images Over Text
An image is now worth more than a thousand characters
Image tweets are categorized differently and get boosted over text-only posts. Incorporate more rich media (images, GIFs) in your posts. 3-4 images will do the trick - perfect.
8. Build In Public
A picture is worth a thousand words.
And when you build in public, a picture is a bridge to a thousand true fans.
9. Memes
Want to amplify a message? Meme it.
Because as long as Elon owns X, memes will always work.
10. Tips
Take something useful. Share it as a tip. And make it visual.
11. Brand BTS
Hype starts before the launch. Not after it goes up for sale.
Bring fans into the design experience to optimize the shopping experience.
12. Visual Threads
2022 was about threads.
2023 is all about visual threads.
Does Text Still Matter?
Yes, but how you structure matters more.
13. Share Long Form Posts
Don’t break up the story into multiple tweets. Share it all at once.
Videos Is Favored
Elon wants Twitter to compete with YouTube. And because of that, the new algorithm pushes video.
Why? It keeps people on Twitter longer.
14. Take Your Thread And Film It
Don’t write about your expertise. Record and share it.
15. Other Video Content Types You Can Use:
Tag a trending video and add your spin to it
Add videos to drive your story
Curate videos relevant to your niche
Share behind the scenes of your product
